Jaśliska – Medzilaborce – Jasiel is a scenic cross-border cycling route leading through the mountainous landscapes of the Low Beskids and north-eastern Slovakia. Covering approximately 51 km with around 630 metres of elevation gain, it is an excellent choice for cyclists looking for a longer adventure, beautiful scenery and an opportunity to explore the Polish-Slovak border region.
The route starts in the Jaśliska area and leads through peaceful mountain landscapes towards the Slovak border. As the kilometres pass, riders gradually discover the characteristic scenery of the Low Beskids, where small villages alternate with extensive forests, valleys and open countryside. The highest sections of the route rise above 720 metres above sea level, giving the ride a genuine mountain character.
One of the most important stops along the route is Medzilaborce, a Slovak town located in the Laborec River valley. It is a good place for a longer break, to replenish supplies and to explore the Slovak side of the region. Medzilaborce is best known for its connection with Andy Warhol's family and for the museum of modern art dedicated to the artist.
The next part of the route heads back towards the mountains and the Polish-Slovak border before continuing towards Jasiel. This is one of the most scenic sections of the journey, with extensive forests, very little development and surrounding mountains creating the atmosphere of one of the most peaceful corners of the Low Beskids.
The route is particularly well suited to eMTB bikes, especially because of its length and mountainous sections. More enduring cyclists can also enjoy it as an interesting full-day adventure on a conventional mountain bike. The combination of more than 50 kilometres of riding, crossing an international border, mountain scenery and a visit to Medzilaborce gives the route the character of a true cycling expedition.
